Mnemonics are a set of learning methods that aim to make memorization easier. Most of these methods were designed in Antiquity at a time when cumbersome means of writing often made it necessary to memorize very large amounts of information. Now updated by contemporary research in psychology, computer science and neuroscience, these methods can facilitate the study of many areas in which memorization plays an important role. This course aims to explore the theoretical bases of mnemonics and to systematically put into practice the memorization methods that are most likely to help students in their academic journey. The course will be divided into two parts. The first part will discuss formal mnemonic systems. The second part will discuss techniques for analyzing content and sorting information into manageable bits.
