The goal of this course is for you to get familiar with the fundamentals of quantitative methods in social science. Learning about applied techniques, statistical concepts and inference will enable you to produce, use, consult and critique the quantitative aspects of  the humanities literature, including scientific publications, surveys, and polls. You will acquire the basic toolbox that is essential to any academic or professional endeavour related to social sciences (economics, marketing, law, psychology, etc.). The various practical uses of these tools in the humanities in particular will be emphasized, as well as the common pitfalls to look out for while delving into the quantitative literature. The use of spreadsheets (Excel) to gather data and design graphs will also play a key role in this course.
