This scientific methodology course is one of the first of its discipline offered by the Department of Social Sciences in the social sciences program, and is mandatory for all its students. It provides a foundational overview of key scientific research methods used in the social sciences, with a focus on the scientific method, qualitative research, and academic research practices.
The course is designed to introduce students to rigorous, discipline-appropriate research methodologies and to develop their scientific critical thinking skills. Through hands-on engagement with the qualitative research process, students will ultimately produce an academic research report, preparing them for undergraduate research within the field of social sciences.
